Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948)

This essay ‘Indian Civilization and Culture’ has been written by Mahatma Gandhi. He is the father of nation. In his esaay he has described the salient features of Indian civilization and culture. In his opinion the foundation of Indian civilization is very strong. No one in the world can defeat it. It has withstood on the test of time. Though it is unchanged, it is the most ancient and civilization. Neither the old civilization of Rome and Greece nor the modern civilization can match Indian civilization. It is superior to other civilization of the world. Civilization is the code of ‘conduct added to morelity’ . It elevates our morality. The western civilization on the other hand is based on the worship of material and increase of wants. They have no faith in divine power. Our ancestors liked village life against city life. They practiced True Home Rule. They believed in the use of hands and feet. Their wants were limited. So, they were happy. Simple living and high thinking was the motto of their life. Mahatma Gandhi tells there is no harm in assimilating good thing from other country’s civilization. Our civilization is suited to our needs and environment. Their civilization is suited to their needs and environment. Really, Indian civilization has no parallel in the world.

यह निबंध ‘भारतीय सभ्यता और संस्कृति‘ महात्मा गांधी द्वारा लिखा गया है। वह राष्ट्र के पिता हैं। अपने esaay में उन्होंने भारतीय सभ्यता और संस्कृति की प्रमुख विशेषताओं का वर्णन किया है। उनकी राय में भारतीय सभ्यता की नींव बहुत मजबूत है। दुनिया में कोई भी इसे नहीं हरा सकता है। यह समय की कसौटी पर कस गया है। हालांकि यह अपरिवर्तित है, यह सबसे प्राचीन और सभ्यता है। न तो रोम और ग्रीस की पुरानी सभ्यता और न ही आधुनिक सभ्यता भारतीय सभ्यता से मेल खा सकती है। यह दुनिया की अन्य सभ्यता से श्रेष्ठ है। सभ्यता आचार-संहिता को नैतिकता से जोड़ा गया ’है। यह हमारी नैतिकता को बढ़ाता है। दूसरी ओर पश्चिमी सभ्यता सामग्री की पूजा और चाहतों की वृद्धि पर आधारित है। उन्हें दैवीय शक्ति में कोई विश्वास नहीं है। हमारे पूर्वजों ने शहर के जीवन के खिलाफ गांव का जीवन पसंद किया था। उन्होंने सच्चा होम रूल प्रचलित किया। वे हाथ और पैर के उपयोग में विश्वास करते थे। उनकी चाहत सीमित थी। इसलिए, वे खुश थे। पर्याप्त जीवन और उच्च विचार उनके जीवन का आदर्श वाक्य था। महात्मा गांधी बताते हैं कि दूसरे देश की सभ्यता से अच्छी चीज को आत्मसात करने में कोई बुराई नहीं है। हमारी सभ्यता हमारी आवश्यकताओं और पर्यावरण के अनुकूल है। उनकी सभ्यता उनकी आवश्यकताओं और पर्यावरण के अनुकूल है। वास्तव में, भारतीय सभ्यता का दुनिया में कोई समानांतर नहीं है।
