Pearl S. Buck (1892-1973)

India Through a traveller’s eyes is written by Pearl S. Buck. She was the greatest short story writer. She wrote personal accounts for her visit to different countries India through a traveller’s eyes is an extract which is personal record of her life.
In this essay she has shown her love for the poorest people living in Indian villages. The writer says that India has always the part of the background of her life. But she has never seen it whole for herself till now. Her Indian family doctor and his wife told her, about India in her childhood. She read everything about India. She knew about India from her father. She had learnt of it through Buddhism and the life history of Lord Buddha. She saw many things such as – the Tajmahal, the Fathehpur Sikri, the Empire of New Delhi etc. The history of India has several unforgettable places. She tells that she had travelled the village of India herself. She saw that the people of Indian villages are farmers. They depend on agriculture and do all their work with heart and soul. The peasant of India is just like china’s peasant. No doubt, they work hard in their field and grow crops. That serve their country with heart and soul.
Really, the authoress shows lots of love for the people of India. In this essay she is actually impresses to watch Indian culture.

भारत एक ट्रैवलर की आंखों के माध्यम से पर्ल एस बक द्वारा लिखा गया है। वह सबसे बड़ी लघुकथाकार थीं। उन्होंने लिखा है कि एक ट्रैवलर की नजर से भारत के विभिन्न देशों की यात्रा के लिए व्यक्तिगत विवरण एक उद्धरण है जो उनके जीवन का व्यक्तिगत रिकॉर्ड है। इस निबंध में उन्होंने भारतीय गांवों में रहने वाले सबसे गरीब लोगों के लिए अपना प्यार दिखाया है। लेखिका कहती है कि भारत में हमेशा उसके जीवन की पृष्ठभूमि का हिस्सा रहा है। लेकिन उसने अब तक अपने लिए इसे कभी पूरा नहीं देखा। उनके भारतीय परिवार के डॉक्टर और उनकी पत्नी ने उन्हें बचपन में भारत के बारे में बताया। उसने भारत के बारे में सब कुछ पढ़ा। वह अपने पिता से भारत के बारे में जानती थी। उसने इसे बौद्ध धर्म और भगवान बुद्ध के जीवन इतिहास के माध्यम से सीखा था। उसने कई चीजें देखीं जैसे – ताजमहल, फतेहपुर सीकरी, नई दिल्ली का साम्राज्य आदि। भारत के इतिहास में कई अविस्मरणीय स्थान हैं। वह बताती है कि उसने खुद भारत के गाँव की यात्रा की थी। उसने देखा कि भारतीय गांवों के लोग किसान हैं। वे कृषि पर निर्भर हैं और अपना हर काम दिल और आत्मा से करते हैं। भारत का किसान चीन के किसान की तरह है। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है, वे अपने क्षेत्र में कड़ी मेहनत करते हैं और फसल उगाते हैं। वे अपने देश की सेवा दिल और आत्मा से करते हैं। वास्तव में, लेखक भारत के लोगों के लिए बहुत प्यार दिखाता है। इस निबंध में वह वास्तव में भारतीय संस्कृति को देखने के लिए प्रभावित होती है।
